Focus on economic development

EUR 24 billion from the Structural Funds for the period between 2007 and 2013, and together with domestic budgetary resources a total of more than EUR 28 billion, is available to finance measures defined in the operational programmes. Between 2007-2013, the NHDP focuses available development resources on two areas: the expansion of employment and promoting long-term growth; six sectoral priorities are defined for grants:

  • economic development
  • transport development
  • human resources development
  • environmental and energy development
  • regional development
  • public administration.

Beneficiaries receive access to EU funding in the framework of six sectoral and seven regional operational programmes. MAG, owned by the Hungarian Development Bank, is the integrated intermediate body for Economic Development Operational Programme (EDOP) and the competitiveness calls for tender of Central Hungary Operational Programme (CHOP).

Furthermore, the company handles additional nationally financed programmes in the areas of economic development, R&D and tourism, and in harmony with its strategy it is open to new commissions up to its available capacity.

In the course of its operation so far MAG has acted as intermediate body in the management of tenders to a value of EUR 2.5 billion (HUF 667 billion), as a result of which funding contracts to a value of around EUR 1.25 billion (HUF 332 billion) were signed. On a value basis, the majority of its activities are given by tasks associated with the two operational programmes (EDOP, CHOP).
